Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Scienvera research tools at tools.scienvera.com (the “Service”), operated by Scienvera (“Scienvera,” “we,” “us”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
Scienvera helps you search scholarly literature by meaning, assess claims against primary sources, assemble citation-grounded summaries and reports, write documents with citations, and upload and search your own documents. Results and metadata are drawn from third-party academic databases, and summaries and answers are generated with AI. The Service is provided on an evolving basis and may currently be offered as a beta.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, for activity under your account, and for maintaining the security of your sign-in. Workspaces may have multiple members; the person who creates or administers a workspace is responsible for managing its members and content.
3. Credits and fair use
Certain actions consume workspace credits. Credit balances, allocations, and any promotional or welcome credits are provided at our discretion and may change. Credits have no cash value, are non-transferable, and are non-refundable except where required by law. We may apply rate limits and other reasonable measures to keep the Service available for everyone.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent purpose.
- Attempt to access accounts, data, or systems you are not authorized to access, or probe, scan, or disrupt the Service’s security or infrastructure.
- Scrape, resell, or redistribute the Service, or use it to build a competing dataset, except as expressly permitted.
- Circumvent credit limits, rate limits, or usage restrictions, or use automated means beyond normal, permitted use.
- Submit content that infringes others’ rights or violates the policies of the third-party sources the Service relies on.
- Upload or store files you do not have the right to upload, store, or process, including content that is unlawful or infringes others’ rights.
5. Third-party content and accuracy
Paper metadata, abstracts, and links are provided by third-party sources and remain subject to their respective rights and terms. AI-generated summaries, relevance scores, and claim assessments are provided for research convenience and may be incomplete or inaccurate. You are responsible for verifying results against the primary sources.
The Service does not provide medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice, and must not be relied upon as a substitute for professional judgment or primary-source verification.
6. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, and branding, is owned by Scienvera and protected by applicable law. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service in accordance with these Terms. You retain rights to the content you create or upload (such as collection names, notes, projects and the documents you write, and files you upload to your library). You represent that you have the rights necessary to upload and use that content, and you grant us the limited rights needed to host, store, process, index, and display it in order to operate the Service for you. If you send us feedback, we may use it without restriction.
7. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that results will be complete or accurate.
8. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SCIENVERA AND ITS PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, OR PROFITS, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us, if any, for the Service in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim.
9. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, if required for security or legal reasons, or if we discontinue the Service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
10. Changes to the Service and Terms
We may modify the Service or these Terms. For material changes to these Terms, we will update the “Last updated” date and provide notice where appropriate. Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
11. Data protection
We process personal data in accordance with the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (KVKK) and, where applicable, the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). How we collect, use, and protect your information, and the rights you have under these laws, are described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts and execution offices of Istanbul, Türkiye will have exclusive jurisdiction, except where applicable law provides otherwise.
